The Great ExTUBEbition

The Great ExTUBEbition

Today brought a little more hope, and honestly, we’ll take every bit of it. The big goal right now is getting Micah strong enough to breathe on his own, and the team is aiming to try extubating him tomorrow. That alone feels huge.

They’ve been working hard to get the fluid cleared from his lungs, and it’s definitely improving. Now we’re all just cheering him on to wake up a little more. The doctors want to see a little more liveliness; those signs that he can stay alert and handle breathing without the ventilator’s help.

He’s still basically sleeping (lazy bum), but every small movement feels like a victory. We’re standing by his bed, talking to him, holding his hand, reminding him that he’s safe and that we’re here, playing MTV music videos from 1998 and of course, cracking jokes to see if he responds with an eyebrow twitch.

He's had a CT scan a few hours ago, and the results show little to no signs of brain damage. So this is great news! Micah has ALWAYS had a good brain and a good heart; both remain true.

If tomorrow goes well, it’ll be a major step in the right direction.

Thank you to everyone who’s been checking in, praying, and sending love. It truly means more than you know.

Some have asked for a Venmo to send gifts/donations. For now, I have a Venmo set up that we can use for the immediate, small, daily needs. Venmo: @Topic24

Be on the lookout for a GoFundMe page soon. We've been very busy, so thanks for your patience with this.

More soon. And Happy Thanksgiving.
